Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation leaders and several business leaders of major original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and Tier-1 suppliers (“Captains of Industry”) will discuss sustainment and logistics challenges and solutions.  Captains of Industries will also discuss their small business utilization goals, subcontracting processes and qualification, and methods to work together to meet industry and government goals. Numerous entities are engaged in efforts to grow the aerospace industry as it relates to and impacts their specific geographic and economic interests.  Coordinating efforts, these entities will be more effective in developing the strongest aerospace framework and result in establishing North Carolina and the Southeast region as the premier Aerospace Center of Excellence.  This panel will provide info on all of the ongoing efforts and generate discussion with industry on how to accelerate aerospace industry growth through increased coordination and collaboration.

    This session will focus on the recruitment, training, employment and retention of a skilled aerospace industry workforce. Panel members will also focus on specific resources, programs and initiatives in K-12, Community College and UNC systems, as well as aerospace-focused apprenticeships, internships and other sources of talent – including the transitioning military workforce.  Input from industry on workforce challenges, industry-based initiatives and outcomes of the education system process is welcome and encouraged during this panel discussion.
