2019 SUMMIT: SESSION SUMMARIES
FEDERAL PROGRAM AND REQUIREMENTS DIALOGUES (SESSIONS BY STATE)
Representatives from military installations and major commands in each state will present and engage in interactive discussion with businesses about their programs, projects and related issues for FY2020 and beyond. Representatives will address acquisition and execution processes for projects in the program of work. Audience participation throughout the session is strongly encouraged. Topics to be addressed include:
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS AND PRIORITIES
This session will highlight current energy-related programs and priorities for Department of Defense Installations, and contrast these with programs and priorities with those of the previous Presidential administration. The purpose is to orient attendees to programmatic opportunities to provide resilient energy to installations in the southeast region. The session will not address specific energy projects, which will be discussed during the respective state Program and Requirements Dialogues.

DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS PROGRAM & ISSUES DIALOGUE
Representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs will present and engage in an interactive discussion with businesses. Audience participation throughout the session is strongly encouraged. Presentation and discussion with the audience will address:
TRAINING, HIRING AND RETAINING A SKILLED WORKFORCE
This session will focus on challenges in the construction, engineering and related industries with hiring, training and retaining a skilled workforce. Panel members will also focus on specific issues and current and future initiatives in North Carolina to address workforce challenges, including tapping into the transitioning military workforce. Active audience participation is encouraged, to highlight specific issues and provide input to developing initiatives to mitigate workforce issues.
US COAST GUARD AND FEDERAL AGENCIES PROGRAM & ISSUES DIALOGUE
Representatives from the US Coast Guard and federal agencies will present and engage in an interactive discussion with businesses. Audience participation throughout the session is strongly encouraged. Presentation and discussion with the audience will address:
GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION PUBLIC BUILDINGS SERVICE AND FEDERAL ACQUISITION SERVICE
Representatives from the General Services Administration will present and engage in an interactive discussion with businesses. Audience participation throughout the session is strongly encouraged. Presentations and discussions among the panel members and with the audience will address the topics below:
TECHNICAL, LEGAL AND CONTRACTING ISSUES DIALOGUE
This session will present and encourage open dialogue with the audience on technical, legal and other contracting issues germane to both small and other businesses in the federal market. Topics will include, but are not limited to:
“FEDNET” MILITARY AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND “BIZNET” MEET AND GREETS
A twist on prior “speed networking” sessions, the Summit will offer one-on-one “FedNet” and “BizNet” (meet and greet) sessions in a “Government Lounge” area of the Exhibit Hall (see exhibitor layout for location). During these sessions, company representatives will have the opportunity to meet with and present information about their companies to military and federal officials in an informal atmosphere. The Meet and Greet sessions will also provide company representatives the opportunity to ask military and federal officials additional questions that were not discussed during their respective program sessions, which normally immediately precede the Meet and Greets.
