*This position may be filled full- or part-time.  The employment relationship is also negotiable, i.e., the selected candidate may become a Community College employee, an employee of the NCMBC’s staffing firm, or the employee/owner of a company contracted to provide staff to the NCMBC.  The office location may depend on selected candidate’s residency and other factors.
 
Minimum Requirements:
 
A combination of education or experience equivalent to four years in science and innovation technology studies, research, and business.  Must have a working knowledge of and passionate interest in technology trends, studies, research, and government requirements.  A Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM with work experience in technology and/or the military and a working knowledge of website management and design are preferred.  Excellent organizational, writing, communications, and social skills, and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet research systems are required. 

Position Duties:
 
The Sr Technology Transition Manager works with the Director of the North Carolina Defense Technology Transition (DEFTECH) office to connect the North Carolina innovation ecosystem with emerging and urgent technology requirements across the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to provide optimum solutions for warfighters and law enforcement personnel.  Qualified candidates will demonstrate evidence of a career that includes: being a self-starter, the ability to work with broad guidance, take initiative, look for and make the right things happen, flexibility, open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives, a willingness to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
  
The Business Development Professional will

  • Conduct research on technology trends, government requirements, North Carolina ecosystem, and formulate strategies to connect relevant NC innovators to government needs.
  • Distribute information via the DEFTECH network and website.
  • Recruit innovation technology innovators to DEFTECH through research, calls, meetings.
  • Plan and conduct public awareness via email, website, calls, meetings, events, and articles.
  • Conduct assistance visits to current DEFTECH members and assess its business development, capture, contract execution and other capabilities, recommend actions and assist in coordinating other resources to fill gaps and improve capabilities.
  • Develop, coordinate and present training on various government outreach offices
  • Provide one-on-one business assistance services to companies to understand specific federal solicitations and encourage and assist with white paper submissions.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and executing networking events between North Carolina and government agencies.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with assigned federal outreach offices.
  • Work closely with the NCMBC team as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the DEFTECH Director.
