Description

On March 13, 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak was declared a national emergency in the United States in accordance with section 201 of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1621). Further, the Secretary of Defense announced several measures to protect the Joint Force and the Public, including enhanced health care protocols, Force Health Protection guidance, and travel restrictions in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Several challenges exist in the response and containment of the COVID-19 outbreak, including in the areas of detection, testing, analysis, and mitigation. Yet there are other challenges stemming from the response to the outbreak that need to be addressed in novel ways in order to mitigate adverse impacts on private and public structures, systems, and institutions. Further, additional challenges in the national security realm remain such as in Bio defense and information operations.

This is an open call for innovative capabilities that addresses the challenges presented by COVID-19, as well as its resulting impacts on public safety and national security processes, systems, and resources. The innovations and solutions collected will be shared by default with a wide network of Government personnel.
