The Small Business & Technology Development Center announced a Business Counselor position vacancy with the Wilmington office. Responsibilities: This intermediate level professional position provides confidential, in-depth business counseling, training, research and technical assistance services to small to medium sized enterprises and new business start-ups, along with firms developing new products, technologies or markets in both the regional office and elsewhere throughout the six county region served by the Southeastern Regional Center.
Requirements: The SBTDC business counselor is expected to be able to operate comfortably with a minimum level of supervision and instruction. He/she is required to exercise judgment and discretion as to work to be performed. The position is responsible for providing a broad range of advice and assistance for leveraging and supervising other staff and volunteer resources. Assistance provided includes, but is not limited to, business counseling, advice, and teaching outreach seminars on feasibility assessment, business plan development, marketing advice, financial analysis, loan package preparation, personnel, accounting, human resources, purchasing, research, and development. The incumbent is also responsible for assuming the management of a Regional Service Center in the absence of the Director, and in the assistance of supervising other professionals, graduate students, and clerical personnel, as directed by the Director.
The candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. The preferred candidate should have seven years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in small business management or small business lending. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
