The Defense and Security Technology Accelerator (DSTA), a thought leader in business acceleration that assists entrepreneurs with the rapid development of dual-use defense and security technology solutions, announced that they will open additional offices at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and North Carolina State University.
“The addition of these satellite offices gives our clients within the defense industry access to research and technology epicenters across the state of North Carolina and continues the DSTA mission to enhance technologies in an accelerated timeline,” said Scott Perry, executive director of DSTA. The locations chosen will establish DSTA as a state-wide asset in the defense sector. According to Bob Wilhelm, Executive Director at the Charlotte Research Institute, “This will connect technologies developed at UNC Charlotte with the clients and affiliates of the DSTA program and provide advanced capabilities for the war fighter.”
The office at UNC Charlotte opened on January 14 and will be located in the Ben Craig Center. The Ben Craig Center is a non-profit corporation in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte that provides incubation, education and advisory services to 8,000 small manufacturing, distribution and service companies.
In late January, the opening is scheduled for the NC State University location. The office will be located on Centennial Campus in the Partners I Building. Centennial Campus has been named the top Research Science Park of the Year for 2007 and houses more than 130 companies, government agencies, and NC State research and academic units advancing technologies ranging from semiconductors to genomics tools.
