The board of the Harnett Forward Together Committee (HFTC) recently announced the official name of the new science and technology campus in Lillington.

According to HFTC officials, the name, Brightwater, reflects one of Harnett county’s most plentiful resources—water—a resource important to industries that will make the campus home.

The Brightwater campus master plan, unveiled this summer, shows a variety of uses for the property, located on Hwy. 401 near its intersection with Hwys. 210 and 421. Potentially, the campus will be home to a hospital, biotechnology and Campbell University buildings, retail shopping and ample green space.
