The federal market is booming – in North Carolina and nationwide. Few other sectors of the economy can make that claim.
Federal spending is up nationwide and in North Carolina. Department of Defense (DoD) spending is up in North Carolina. Spending under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is beginning in North Carolina. Both the short term and long term trends - with BRAC and other growth at our bases - for DoD and federal spending are up in North Carolina.
Your business can leverage this market – for both prime and subcontracts. However, you need to navigate the process to engage in the market, and do it soon.
For potential prime contractors, you need to get registered as a federal contractor, get certified in small business programs for which your business qualifies and register on www.MatchForce.org as soon as possible to receive opportunities. Registering with the federal government as a federal contractor takes time, and it’s not E-A-S-Y, but you can do it. A great checklist is available at the top of the links page of www.ncmbc.us to guide you through the process.
If you are a potential subcontractor, take action now to find subcontract opportunities. Register on www.MatchForce.org, view prime contractor requirements and register as a subcontractor on the subcontracting page of www.ncmbc.us and, if you are a construction subcontractor, review the future project list, current prime contractor list and multiple award contract holder lists on the federal construction page of www.ncmbc.us - these are your marketing lists for prime contractors in the $7 billion military construction market in North Carolina.
With the ramp up in federal spending and the decline in other markets, the rush to engage in the federal market is on, and the demand for NCMBC business development resources and business assistance services is skyrocketing. However, we are here to help your business engage in, compete in and win in this market.
