The NCMBC just accelerated its subcontracting initiative to connect North Carolina businesses for subcontracting opportunities with both military construction and non-construction DoD contractors. Two prime contractors have opened their pages, Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in MILCON, and Harris Corporation in IT Services to announce subcontracting requirements at www.ncmbc.us.  It is time to get engaged!

NCMBC launched its subcontracting registration webpage in February and many potential subcontractors have registered in anticipation of the arrival of major prime contractors.  With the addition of both MILCON and non-construction DoD prime contractors, they can anticipate other primes joining the ranks!  Take the time now to register in the database provided to and visible by the prime contractors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

NC businesses can log on and complete a basic registration, which will be common for all contractors.  As more primes enroll in the program, NCMBC will notify all NC businesses with the NAICS codes needed by the prime contractor(s), and potential subs will be provided a link to the subcontracting page to complete the contractor-specific questions that are not included in the basic registration.

Some have asked why we are creating yet another registration requirement for NC businesses – who already register on MatchForce, CCR and other websites.  We understand and appreciate this perspective.  However, the subcontracting page on ncmbc.us will provide primes an opportunity to specify their requirements, and for potential subs to review project information, review contractor prerequisites and to complete a short profile that provides all the information the prime needs to make an initial assessment of the company for participating as a subcontractor.

We look forward to more prime contractors on the subcontracting page at ncmbc.us.  This service will provide a great resource for you and for prime contractors to quickly join together to form more competitive teams in pursuit of federal business opportunities.

For more information, contact Lydia Joglar (joglarl@ncmbc.us), Jennifer Burrell (for construction subcontracting, burrellj@ncmbc.us) or Mickey Finn (for non-MILCON subcontracting, finnm@ncmbc.us).
