The North Carolina Aerospace Alliance (NC-AA) has just held its third quarter, CY 2008, quarterly open / membership meeting, on Thursday, August 21, at the Global TransPark Center, in Kinston.
Forty-six organizations were represented, and over 75 individuals attended the meeting. The meeting included presentations from 13 different speakers representing a wide spectrum of North Carolina aerospace organizations. The list of speakers included agencies such as the N. C. State University School of Aerospace Engineering, the N. C. State Industrial Extension Service, the Neuse River Development Authority and Team Stellar (sponsor for Google / Lunar X commercial lunar mission launch).
Commercial N. C. aerospace companies that made presentations included, New Phoenix Aerospace (Morrisville), Defense Holdings, Inc. (Trenton), Commerce Overseas Corp. (Kinston), Higher Source Aviation (Flat Rock), Concurrent Technology Corp. (Wake Forest), Invisar Inc. (Durham), Source Authority, Inc. (Greensboro) & Spirit AeroSystems (Kinston).
The primary goal of the alliance is to assist N. C. aerospace firms break into the DOD aged aircraft parts supply market. The initial focus is to address the parts supply shortages from Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station located in Havelock, the U. S. Coast Guard Station Aviation Repair and Supply Center (ARSC) located in Elizabeth City and the Defense Supply Center – Richmond (DSCR).
The next meeting of the alliance is scheduled for November. The location will be at the Penske Auto Racing Headquarters in Mooresville.
