In May, the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), SourceHorizon, and the North Carolina Aerospace Alliance (NC-AA) combined their efforts to launch a new industry focused website (www.SourceNC.com).

This new website – a component of the NCMBC and NC-AA’s Defense Machining Initiative – is designed to help North Carolina machine shops grow their businesses, create jobs and bring more Department of Defense contract dollars to North Carolina.  SourceHorizon, Inc., a Greensboro company, developed the SourceNC.com platform and provides engineering and technical support for the site.

The North Carolina Defense Machining Initiative and SourceNC.com connect the precision machining capacity in North Carolina to the numerous (but difficult-to-access) machining opportunities for aerospace and other repair parts from the Defense Logistics Agency’s bid board (www.DibbsBSM@dla.mil).

The North Carolina Defense Machining Initiative includes:

  • conducting engineering evaluation of repair parts solicitations (RFQs and RFPs) from DLA
  • identifying solicitations with sufficient technical data to support bidding and manufacturing
  • posting screened opportunities on SourceNC.com
  • recruiting, evaluating, and registering machine shops on SourceNC.com
  • matching registered machine shops to pre-screened opportunities on SourceNC.com
  • providing bidding and contracting assistance to businesses  to compete for and win contracts

All North Carolina machining and fabrication companies are encouraged to register themselves on the SourceNC website in order to utilize the comprehensive resources and tools provided by this new initiative. Currently, 101 North Carolina-based companies are registered with SourceNC.

We are pleased to announce that Orr Machine Tool in Graham and AMINC in Vanceboro have won the first two DLA contracts off the site.  Since the inception of SourceNC, 743 solicitations have been mined with 253 being posted as viable opportunities to bid. The site has averaged 30 open opportunities at any point in time.

SourceNC is here for you. We want to connect buyers and suppliers, helping to form powerful business relationships that produce lasting results.  If you have any questions about how we can do this for your business, please visit www.SourceNC.com or contact us directly using the information below.
