Atlantic Marine Corps Communities to Become the Largest Solar Thermal Powered Residential Community in the Continental United States

 

Solar power generated on site to fulfill approximately 75 percent of domestic hot water energy needs for 900 homes

Camp Lejeune, NC – May 18, 2010 – Military housing developer and builder Actus Lend Lease along with FLS Energy today announced the development of the nation’s largest solar thermal energy initiative at Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC) at Camp Lejeune, the public-private partnership between Actus Lend Lease and the Department of the Navy. Upon completion, it will be the largest producer of solar thermal power among all other residential communities in the continental United States and the largest project of its type on a U.S. Marine Corps Base.

North Carolina Military Business Center announces the speaker for the morning sessions entitled “The Strategy” which encompasses The Rules, The Vehicles and The Players.

Bob Davis has over 35-years experience in the information systems industry.  He has successfully held senior positions in Business and Market Development, Program and Capture Management.  He has worked for product and services companies, having over 100,000 employees to small businesses having less than 200 employees, primarily in the federal, state and local government market.  Bob has a B.S. in Management, a MBA with a Concentration in Technology Management, and a Doctor of Management from the University of Maryland, University College.  His dissertation – ‘Does environmental scanning by systems integration firms improve their business development performance?’ is the first doctoral research into the business development area in the systems integration industry.  Bob is the Program Director of MILVETS Systems, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business serving the IT services sector.

The North Carolina Federal IT Symposium will feature Industry experts in contracting with the Federal government.  Today we are pleased to announce two of those speakers.

 SESSION:  Third General Session “The Tools For Success”

 Larry Allen is the President of COALITION FOR GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT.  

Larry manages and directs the operations of the Coalition for Government Procurement and brings a strong background in government relations. Previous positions include Assistant Director of Government Affairs for the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges as well as Legislative Assistant to Congressman Alex McMillan of North Carolina, where he covered the Government Operations, Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. Larry received his B.A. in Political Science from Emory University and has done post-graduate work at American University. 

SESSION:  Teaming – The Small Business Approach

 Denny Lewis, Director, Army and Defense Programs, Harris Corporation GCSD will chair the panel discussion. Mr. Lewis joined Harris in 2006 as part of the Multimax acquisition, and prior to being named to his current assignment, Mr. Lewis held the position of director of DoD Business Development for Harris IT Services. Prior to joining Harris, he was senior vice president of Government Relations, held P&L and business development responsibilities for Army programs at CACI in Chantilly, VA, and was vice president for Warfighting Systems and Future Concepts at Defense Group, Inc., in Alexandria, VA.  A career Army Officer, Denny earned a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.S. in Industrial Relations from Purdue University.

The NC Military Business Center is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual NC Roundtable that will be held in conjunction with the NAVFAC Atlantic 2010 Industry Forum on June 22, 2010 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The NC Roundtable is a unique opportunity for North Carolina construction, architectural and engineering firms that are attending the NAVFAC Atlantic 2010 Industry Forum to meet and engage in facilitated discussion with NAVFAC command and acquisition representatives.  Topics will include opportunities and issues pertinent to North Carolina business.
