Leading publisher on blast injury, traumatic brain injury and PTSD information for veterans and service members
Our informational books and tip cards help veterans, families, caregivers and clinicians understand the causes, symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery of service members with, blast injuries, traumatic brain injury, concussion and post traumatic stress disorder. Written in user-friendly formats, these products offer exercises and techniques for coping and discuss the effects of trauma, blast injury and PTSD on family members. They are unique and comprehensive resources for individuals and families, polytrauma centers, VA hospitals, vet centers, rehabilitation programs, and community agencies.
Traumatic brain injury has become the signature wound of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan due to the high number of service members injured in blasts caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket propelled grenades. The most common type of brain injury is a concussion, otherwise known as a mild brain injury. Post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD is the other common diagnosis among these service members and veterans. With the advanced medical trauma care delivered on the battlefield and emergency transport to trauma centers, there is a very high survival rate among service members with moderate and severe brain injuries. Once they return to the US and re-enter their communities, it can be difficult for them to find information and resources. Lash and Associates addresses this need through a user- friendly website with sections specifically for veterans. The following links can be easily accessed:

Business Spotlight: Milspec Plastics
Milspec Plastics -Asheville, NC
Milspec Plastics is an Asheville, NC based Small Business that manufactuers and distributes plastic-based products which meet the demanding applications of Law Enforcement Agencies. Milspec uses local injection molding and assembly services from Goodwill Ind., Conover, NC. We are a company committed to “ Made in the U.S.A.” products with a U.S. patent approved for Cobra Cuffs Disposable Restraints (handcuffs) and a 2nd patent pending. Our innovative design has rapidly gained market share and an execellent reputation in the Law Enforcement industry. Cobra Cuffs are the only disposable restraint which has a double lock and is perfect for mass arrest scnerios. Our unique design gives maximum leverage and tactical control to the officer while at the same time provides safety against accidental over-tightening to the inmate. Liability due to nerve damage or injury due to accidently over-tightened Zip Tie restraints is rapidly becoming an issue with corrections and law enforcement professionals. It is all too easy to accidently over-tighten a zip tie during inmate transport by simply pulling on the strap during escort or a struggle. With Cobra Cuffs Locking Clip engaged; accidental over-tightening is almost impossible. Our compact design also helps officers deal with mass arrest with the ability to store 10 or more Cobra Cuffs conveniently in a carry pouch without the extra long zip ties hanging off their belt.
For the past 4 years; Milspec has sold to SWAT and Local Police Departments across the country including Homeland Security, US Marshals and ICE. We also are now shipping to SWAT and Corrections in Canada, Mexico, Malaysia and several other countries internationally.
The NC Justice Academy has been an active partner and has assisted with testing and evaluation over the years. You can read their letter to Milspec On-Line at www.CobraCuffs.com in the Testimonials heading.
We at Milspec are proud of our track record in this industry and look forward to growing our businss over the years to come with addittional products currently in process.
Thank you.
