For those taking the Lynx Blue Line light rail, depart at the JW Clay/University platform.  PORTAL is just one block from this light rail station. 


Please park in the visitors’ section of the UNC Charlotte CRI Deck located just off of Hwy 29 at the JW Clay entrance to the Charlotte Research Institute sector of campus.  The GPS address for the CRI Deck is “9100 CRI Deck Robert D. Snyder Road”.  Please call ahead for handicapped parking shuttle service.

From the CRI Deck, walk east to the street side main entrance of PORTAL just past the CRI 2 surface lot entrance.  Please call 704-687-5690 if you have any complications with directions and/or parking.


Bill Wilson is Director of Veteran Services at UNC Charlotte where he and his staff are responsible for the support and success of the military affiliated student body.  They process GI Bill® benefits for the more than 800 GI Bill® benefit recipients (veterans and dependents alike), provide the Veteran Student Lounge for study and community, produce and provide programming directed to the veteran student community as well as insuring that the campus experience is a smooth and seamless transition for those choosing college after or during their service. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Bill held positions at James Madison University, University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology), and Michigan Technological University. Bill earned his BS from Longwood University and Master’s degree from Texas A&M University.
Dr. James Igoe Walsh is Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He holds a PhD in International Relations from American University. His research interests include political violence and terrorism, human rights violations, and intelligence and national security. Dr. Walsh’s book, Combat Drones and Support for the Use of Force, is available from The University of Michigan Press. His work has been supported by the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Minerva Research Initiative.
