GENERAL. North Carolina has a long-standing traditional strength as a global designer and manufacturer of furniture and fixtures, known as the “Furniture Capital of the World.” North Carolina’s furniture manufacturers produce products made within all industry sectors: wood, metal, upholstered or other materials (plastics and synthetic materials) for household, office and institutional use.
According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the economic impact of furniture manufacturing across the Triad region is $4.8 billion in industry output and 34,000 jobs. High Point Market has an economic impact of $1.117 billion and creates 12,774 jobs.
In recent years, the furniture industry has felt the impact of the increased global competition and economic recession. However, North Carolina’s furniture manufacturers continue to demonstrate their resilience by expanding and succeeded in overseas markets. Additionally, the “Made in America” movement benefits North Carolina’s furniture and fixture manufacturers, which showcase and highlight the State’s industry strengths.
The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) recognizes the deep-rooted furniture and fixture tradition within the state and the importance on the State’s economy. NCMBC provides assistance to North Carolina’s furniture industry to help them compete for and win federal contracts – growing their portfolio to include defense and federal clients.
The NC Military Business Center, the NC Community College System, and the State of North Carolina do not officially endorse events. These items are posted strictly for the information and convenience of NCMBC customers.
