LaNell Grissom joined the North Carolina Military Business Center in April 2015 as a Business Development Specialist. LaNell will focus her attention on Mission & Installation Contracting Command (MICC) – Fort Bragg; Department of Defense Education Activity Construction at Fort Bragg; US Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic, Charleston, Savannah and Wilmington Districts. In addition Ms. Grissom has oversight to assist businesses in Bladen, Columbus and Sampson counties desiring to do business with the federal government. In this capacity, she helps existing businesses to identify, bid on and compete for federal contracts.
Prior to joining the NCMBC, Ms. Grissom was a government procurement counselor with the North Carolina Procurement Technical Assistance Center at Fayetteville State University.
In 2010, she retired from the federal government with 36 years of civilian service, including 27 years’ experience in purchasing and contracting with the Department of the Army. Ms. Grissom began her contracting career as a Procurement Clerk/Purchasing Agent, was selected for and successfully completed the DA CP 14 Career Intern Program, after which she began working as a Supervisory Contract Specialist, Team Lead, and Warranted Contracting Officer.
She served as a Cost/Price Analyst and member of the Cost Committee, Source Selection Board for several A-76 Commercial Activities Studies at Fort Bragg. She was appointed as the Small and Disadvantaged Business Specialist for the XVlII Airborne & Fort Bragg, and served in that position for five years.
Her last three years in the federal government were spent as the Administrative Contracting Officer & Team Lead, Contract Administration Branch, and the Interim Chief of the Pre-Award Contracting Branch, Installation Division of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command Center-Fort Bragg, NC.
Ms. Grissom earned Level III certification as a Contract Acquisition Professional in 2002 and held a Contracting Officer’s Warrant with unlimited authority to obligate the Government until her retirement in December 2010.
LaNell is a Sampson County native and currently resides in Stedman, NC.
