Teresa Bouchonnet joined the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) in June 2006. She serves as the Business Development Specialist for 15 western North Carolina counties.
Teresa’s job is to assist NC businesses in winning Federal Business opportunities and thereby growing their companies. To reach that goal, she is responsible to identify federal government requirements and bidding opportunities and assist N.C. companies to win contracting opportunities; and help small businesses in the state to develop and win subcontracting opportunities. She specifically identifies textile business opportunities, and works with the textile businesses in North Carolina.
Prior to joining NCMBC, Teresa has her own consulting Veteran, Women, Disadvantage Small Business that works with commercial manufacturer and businesses dealing with government contracts, GSA Contracts, invoicing, negotiations, bids, change orders, closeouts and other administrative tasks. She has been successfully awarded contracts and active subcontractor on large design & build contract.
Teresa is a retired Air Force Major and former Contracting Officer that has worked on contracts in the U.S. and Germany. She was the Deputy Chief of Base Contracting Division at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center consisting of 105 personnel that contracted over $ 127 million annually. During her 30 plus career she has worked with the Air Force, Army, Navy, USMC and Coast Guard.
Teresa was the Contract Administrator for the Clark County McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. During this time she supervised the contracts and purchases for McCarran Airport to include the award of a disaster exercise contract and airport construction projects. She was also the Director Material Management at the 122 bed Community Hospital of North Las Vegas for a year.
Teresa Bouchonnet is a native of Macon County, and resides in Franklin N.C. on her family blueberry farm. Teresa is also the owner of Cowee Textiles that teaches textile art from the basic fiber to finish products. Teresa is also a member of Southern Textile Association, National Association of Professional Women and Handweavers Guild of America.
