Announcement: Virtual CyberChats to Start, January 2021!
The North Carolina Military Business Center and NC Interagency Cybersecurity Coordination Committee (I3C) are pleased to announce a weekly, virtual, CyberChat series (on Zoom), designed to help defense contractors build a cybersecurity compliance program. This series is targeted to current and prospective prime and subcontractors in the defense industrial base (DIB).
These sessions are not intended to provide technical recommendations regarding hardware/software solutions; however, participants will be provided with resources to assist with making decisions about technical solutions. Each weekly CyberChat session is intended to be a virtual working group and will build on information from the previous sessions.
Each session will be recorded and posted on the website.
Sessions will feature:
  • Update on what’s new in the world of DoD cybersecurity compliance – CMMC and DFARS
  • Identify IT/Cyber companies that have achieved CMMC status as Assessors, Registered Practitioners, Certified Professionals, etc. – and can support the DIB
  • Training presentation on the next step in building a cybersecurity compliance program, using the NCMBC/I3C “CMMC Level 1 in a Box” tool as a guide
  • Provide tips for integrating your cybersecurity compliance program with other quality management systems in your organization
  • Open discussion and Q&A
The first few sessions will focus on FCI/CUI, network diagrams and information flow, developing a cybersecurity training program, developing a cybersecurity risk assessment, how to reduce your audit scope, performing an IT asset inventory, and performing a gap analysis. The remaining sessions will focus on CMMC Domains and developing the corresponding procedures required to protect your data.
Who should participate in CyberChats: Company leaders (compliance is ultimately your responsibility), cybersecurity compliance project manager, compliance staff and IT/cyber staff. Small companies that don’t have IT/cyber/compliance staff should designate someone to take the lead on developing the DoD cybersecurity compliance program.
When. Recurring, every Wednesday starting January 13th at 1100 EST.
Platform. The NCMBC will host these CyberChats on an online platform. Information will be provided an hour prior to the training each session.
