NCMBC Position: Federal Business Development (Raleigh)

The North Carolina Military Business Center is looking to fill the position of Federal Business Development Specialist in the Raleigh-Durham region.  

DUTIES.  Works as a staff member of the Business Development Team within the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC).  Identifies military business opportunities from assigned federal buying offices worldwide and/or within assigned industry sectors. Using the NCMBC database of businesses in North Carolina, sources identified opportunities to businesses statewide. Provides technical assistance to help businesses understand federal solicitations and to review company proposals and quotes in response to solicitations.  Assists businesses to pre-position and team to compete for identified future opportunities.  Identifies, recruits and assists businesses within an assigned geographic area of the state to participate in military business. Working with Chambers of Commerce, economic developers and other business organizations, develops, schedules, markets and provides training to  businesses on federal contracting practices and procedures. 


Minimum requirements:  Combination of education or experience equivalent to eight years in business administration and/or military procurement. Working knowledge of military procurement systems, practices and procedures.  Excellent writing skills and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database and internet research systems.

Preferred:  A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business administration or related field.  Work experience as a government contracting official or as a business development and/or proposal development staff member for a company engaged in government contracting.  Excellent word processing, spreadsheet, database management and internet research skills.
