SESSION FOCUS: Textile Innovation, New Product Development and Testing & Evaluation Dialogue.
Representatives from industry, from industry- and academia-based research, development, testing and evaluation (RDT&E) institutions and from the advanced functional fabrics manufacturing institute will discuss emerging and future textile technologies, capabilities and the “Art of the Possible” in the next ten to 20 years. Discussion will address, among other topics, the manufacturing-based revolution in transforming traditional fibers, yarns and fabrics into integrated, multi-functional and even networked devices and systems that will enhance lethality and survivability on the future battlefield. Representatives from DoD will discuss their perspective on the future of military textiles, and outline their priorities for future soldier systems, including uniforms, protective and tactical gear and textile-based individual and organizational equipment. The panel will also address military R&D capacity, and programs to engage industry and academia in military textile R&D.

ABOUT THE EVENT. The FEDTEX Summit connects US Department of Defense clothing and textiles, individual equipment and organizational equipment buyers and requirements officials with manufacturing, supply chain, research and development, testing, workforce development and academic resources from across the southeast United States. All manufacturers of textile-based clothing, footwear, equipment and textile-based soldier systems – and their supply chain, workforce, R&D and supporting resources – should attend this Summit.
