Service to the following counties: Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Halifax, Hertford, Gates, Martin, Northhampton & Perquimans BIOGRAPHY Darleen Stein joined the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) in November 2014 as a Business Development Specialist serving Eastern North Carolina and Greater Tidewater Virginia. Ms. Stein’s primary responsibilities include diversified program support at various military bases and hospitals/clinics throughout the region and assisting small North Carolina businesses with government relations, business development and partnering opportunities to enhance new military contract experience. The NCMBC offers local businesses an excellent training and workshop program such as the Defense Contractor Academy, Beginners and Advanced Proposal Writing, military outreach events, trade shows, and more. Individual company support is provided. Businesses are afforded the opportunity to develop full capability and capacity to support area military contracting needs. She brings +30 years of Federal and military contracting services experience in healthcare, engineering (electrical, civil, mechanical), research and development, IT, security, food service, logistics, foreign military sales, and air-tank-missile testing services to the Army, Air Force, Navy, USCG, NOAA, DOE and other agencies. She provided Business Development, Marketing, Proposal Development and Pricing Strategy, Quality Control, Purchasing, Corporate and Financial Planning, Program Management, and testing management support. Ms. Stein was a Vice President for a Fortune 500 company providing operations management over multiple Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and achieving success in programs such as submarine surface to air missile systems, reverse osmosis systems, foreign aircraft sales, first HUD program, and the first braille book for the Library of Congress. She has supported many new small businesses with startup, business opportunities and proposal development, contract implementation, recruitment resources and policy development. She also assisted small disadvantaged companies with Business Development and Contract Management through the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program. In many cases, the military recognized health care services firms (and their contract employees) for their valuable support in augmenting staffing during military deployments, extreme weather conditions, flu epidemics, and increased acuity due to severely injured soldiers returning from the war. These services promoted continuity of care to our military soldiers, dependents and other eligible beneficiaries. Ms. Stein’s office is in the Regional Aviation and Technical Training Center building at the College of the Albemarle in Barco, NC. She currently resides in Currituck County with her husband and 11-year old granddaughter. |
