SUMMARY:Automation… Safety Assumed… Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Jason Low\, Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist \nThis webinar is for any small-medium size company that is considering automation for the first time\, or is looking at I4.0 technologies and is uncertain of the safety implications of such a journey. \nThe mission of autonomous systems is task execution. Interactions by non-system agents (humans) are not to occur. Light curtains\, pressure mats and physical barriers have long been the elements which provide signaling and subsequent safety for workers. Join us as we review technologies that are switching out the old guard and the evolution of the standards that have protected humans from machines for decades. We will see that with new autonomy (cobots\, AMRs\, AGVs\, ALTs\, etc.)\, new safety paradigms emerge\, and new standards must be developed. We will investigate old and new standards alike and offer insights on why and how they may impact your operations and decision-making. \nRegister for the webinar » \nJason Low is a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist at NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions\, where he assists clients with automation strategies and their understanding how Industry 4.0 technologies can be leveraged within their own operations. Jason comes to IES with 25 years of teaching and automation experience at NCSU\, including a tenure in the computer industry where he served as a manufacturing engineer. In his IES role\, Jason works with a broad array of North Carolina companies and a network of people and resources that contribute to one of the most important sectors of North Carolina’s economy\, manufacturing. Jason is excited to bring his system mindset and knowledge of automation and processes to help solve the challenges faced by many of North Carolina’s small and medium-sized manufacturers. \nJason holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BSEET) from the University of Maine and a Master of Industrial Engineering (MIE) from\nNC State University.
