This includes a focus on system types\, components\, applications\, design\, and best practices for installation\, maintenance\, and troubleshooting. The 5-day course is based on NABCEP’s Learning Objectives for NABCEP PV Associate. Students completing this course are eligible to sit for the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP) PV Associate Exam. \nPrerequisites: This is an introductory course and there are no prerequisites to take this course. \nCourse Length: 35 hours – 7 hours a day over 5 days \nLearning Objectives: Students will be able to: \n\nIdentify photovoltaic system components and system types\nCalculate electrical energy and power\nIdentify optimum sites for solar electric systems\nCalculate electrical loads\nCorrectly size system components\nDesign series and parallel configurations for solar equipment\nDesign a basic grid-tie PV system\nEstimate PV system energy production\nUnderstand PV system specification sheets\nUnderstand safety standards of installing PV systems\nIdentify your competency level regarding the tasks on the NABCEP PV Associate Job Task Analysis and gauge readiness to take the NABCEP PV Associate Exam based on NABCEP PV Associate Learning Objectives.\n\nCourse Expectations: Attendance during at least 90% of the live presentation is required to receive a certificate of completion and register to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Exam. \nAs a participant of the grant program\, we expect that all participants that complete the course also complete the post-training survey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNABCEP PV Associate Exam \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUpon completion of the Fundamentals of Solar PV Design and Installation course\, course attendees will be eligible to sit for the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP) PV Associate exam. The NABCEP Associate Program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles of the application\, design\, installation\, and operation of Photovoltaic energy systems. \nAs the market grows for Photovoltaic technologies\, individuals with a NABCEP Associate Credential enhance their employment opportunities with distinguished resumes. Employers have confidence they are hiring or promoting someone who is committed to the profession\, and who has a proven understanding of the basic terms and operational aspects of a Photovoltaic system. \nPassing a NABCEP Associate exam qualifies an individual to design\, sell\, install\, or maintain systems in a supervised capacity. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis opportunity is extended to individuals who are either a part of Native American communities or serve Native American communities as well as historically underserved\, and underrepresented populations including People of Color\, women\, veterans\,  individuals with disabilities\, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. \nThese courses are recommended for the following groups: \n\nSkilled professionals transitioning careers into the solar or renewable energy industry\nEducators from universities\, colleges\, and community colleges\nCollege students pursuing a career in solar or renewable energy\nSolar technical professionals\nEnergy professionals\nEngineers\nElectricians\nContractors\nRoofers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese virtual courses are being offered FREE thanks to the NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC)\, PowerAmerica\, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Rapid Assistance for Coronavirus Economic Response (NIST-RACER) grant.
