DESCRIPTION:Request to Attend NLT 04 March 2024 11:59 PM ET\nPurpose\nSOFWERX\, in coordination with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP)\, will provide a forum for Small Businesses with technologies that support National Security Interests and/or the USSOCOM technology interest areas to learn more about doing business with USSOCOM. Additionally\, the event will provide an opportunity for Small Business engagement with government stakeholders and investors in the form of “Speed Dating.” See objective for more details. \nThe OSBP is dedicated to helping you and your business. They will explain known requirements\, help you understand who buys what within the Command\, and can assist you in locating other likely markets within DoD and developing strategies for accessing those markets. They provide information and guidance on defense procurement policies and procedures as well as methods for identifying prime contracting and subcontracting opportunities. \nObjective\nDay 1: Presenters will provide an overview of USSOCOM as well as information on the basic components and requirements of working with the Department of Defense\, and how to engage with USSOCOM.  In addition\, there will be briefings from external support organizations and mechanisms that can help you to prepare and scale your business. SUMMARY:Solar Energy Storage Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Description \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis three-day virtual course covers fundamental principles of battery-based systems including understanding customer needs; specifying and sizing a battery bank\, inverters\, and charge controllers for battery-based systems; defining system architecture and functionality; battery metering; and understanding the code implications of these systems. \nPrerequisite: Working knowledge of solar PV; currently working in the solar industry; and/or have taken a fundamentals course such as FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation offered by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center. \nLength: 21 hours – 7 hours a day over 3 days \nLearning Objectives: Students will be able to: \n\nUse load analysis to size a battery bank\nSpecify and size inverters\, charge controllers for battery-based system\nDefine system architecture options and functionality\nAdd battery backup to existing grid-direct PV system\nUnderstand code implications of these systems\n\nCourse Expectations: Attendance during at least 90% of the live presentation is required to receive a certificate of completion. \nAs a participant of the grant program\, we expect that all participants that complete the course also complete the post-training survey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis opportunity is extended to individuals who are either a part of Native American communities or serve Native American communities as well as historically underserved\, and underrepresented populations including People of Color\, women\, veterans\,  individuals with disabilities\, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. \nThese courses are recommended for the following groups: \n\nSkilled professionals transitioning careers into the solar or renewable energy industry\nEducators from universities\, colleges\, and community colleges\nCollege students pursuing a career in solar or renewable energy\nSolar technical professionals\nEnergy professionals\nEngineers\nElectricians\nContractors\nRoofers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese virtual courses are being offered FREE thanks to the NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC)\, PowerAmerica\, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Rapid Assistance for Coronavirus Economic Response (NIST-RACER) grant.
