DESCRIPTION:Course Details:\n2 days\, 14 instructional hours\n14 MESH (Manager of Environmental Safety and Health) Hours\n14 Engineering Professional Development Hours (PDHs) \nFor location details and single session availability: \nREGISTER TO ATTEND \nCourse Description:\nThis 2-day course will cover the basic requirements for shipping hazardous materials using 49 CFR (DOT) regulations. This certification workshop discusses the fundamentals of shipping hazardous materials and hazardous wastes\, quantity exemptions/exceptions\, and recent changes in the regulations. It is important to note that hazmat training is required within 90 days for new employees. Topics covered in this training include: \n\nUse of 49 CFR Parts 100-185 and applicability of the Hazardous Materials Regulations\nIdentification of hazardous materials and use of the § 172.101 HM Table\nPackaging specifications\nMarking\, labeling\, placarding\nShipping papers\nIncident reporting\nRegistration\, security plans and emergency response\n\nLearning Objectives:\nOur experienced instructor will engage you in lecture discussions\, exercises\, and a series of review questions following each major topic. Upon completion you will learn how to apply the rules to your materials and be able to: \n\nRecognize and identify hazardous materials\nExplain requirements related to shipping of hazardous materials\nDiscuss the purpose\, responsibility and explain the benefits safely shipping hazardous materials\n\nMaterials:\nEach participant will receive a copy of 49 CFR (Parts 100-185) and a training manual. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion with instructional hours. \nWho Should Attend:\nAnyone who meets the definition of a Hazmat Employee or oversees the activities of Hazmat Employees should attend this training. This includes but is not limited to those who prepare and offer materials for transport\, prepare and/or sign shipping papers (including EPA’s Universal Hazardous Waste Manifest)\, load and/or unload or otherwise handle hazardous materials shipments should take this training.  Anyone responsible for the safety and security of hazardous materials shipments.  In addition\, this course would be essential to: \n\nHazmat Employees & Managers\nField Technicians\nHazmat Technicians\nSite Workers\nWaste Handling Technicians\n\nAdditional Notes:\nIf you have completed this course and looking to meet the refresher training requirements to maintain DOT Hazardous Transportation Materials certification please register for DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Refresher.
