She also trains\, coaches and mentors organizations in project management. Even though she specializes in quality systems\, she provides support in Lean\, Six Sigma and the Baldrige/NCAfE programs. Nora’s bilingual ability supports other disciplines within IES when clients require coaching or training for their Hispanic workforce. Nora’s manufacturing and quality experience started in Mexico City\, first with the beverage industry and then the automotive industry. Nora has more than 20 years of experience facilitating\, implementing\, auditing and maintaining quality management systems and quality tools such as ISO 9000\, QS 9000\, APQP\, PPAP and FMEA. For five of those years\, she served the automotive industry across North America in project management\, process optimization\, industrial engineering\, problem-solving\, training and facilitation programs. Nora joined IES in 2006\, helping more than 20 companies implement their management systems. She performed over 70 audits and trained over 400 internal auditors in the various standards ISO 9001:2000\, ISO 9001:2008\, ISO/TS 16949:2002\, ISO/TS 16949:2009\, AS9100 B and AS9100C. Participants will be led through an interactive simulation of an industry process to allow hands-on application and practice of the Lean tools and methodology. \nValue Stream Mapping is a tool used to create a material and information flow map of a product or process. This powerful tool allows organizations to map their procedures\, supplies or information from the beginning of the process through all process steps\, until the process is complete. These steps make up the value stream. You begin the journey with the current state map; it shows you where you are. Then\, you plan your lean journey with a future state map; it shows you where you’re going and how you’re going to get there. Burgett aka “Dr. Drone” \nEvent Details:\nOver the past few years\, the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems\, commonly referred to as “drones\,” has significantly increased in the construction industry. What started as a novelty toy to capture marketing images has become an invaluable tool for improving logistics\, reducing costs\, and supporting quality control. Drone-captured 2D images are now commonly used to create 3D models to document as-built conditions\, monitor progress\, and calculate material quantities. Incorporating aerial infrared thermography gives innovative contractors new insights into as-built conditions\, envelope integrity\, quality control\, and building energy performance. In this presentation\, Dr. Joe Burgett will discuss the opportunities\, challenges\, and barriers to leveraging drones in construction.
