He oversees the Office of the Chief Scientist\, which leads DHA’s research and innovation strategy\, driving scientific direction and research initiatives towards alignment with validated needs and ensuring transition of science and technology (S&T) capability to support Joint Force operational medicine and the military health system. \n\nBusiness Spotlight: Geoff Foster\, CEO/President\, Core Technology Molding Corp.\n\nGeoff Foster earned a BS (’90) & MS (’96) in Industrial Technology with a concentration in Applied Engineering Technology from North Carolina A & T State University.  He was employed as an Engineer with AMP Inc. & Tyco Electronics in roles of Quality Engineering\, Product Engineering\, Product Manager and Global Product Management.  He was awarded US Patent 6\,024\,591 for a Sealed Electric Connector for Ford Motor Company.  Ford Motor Company has used over 31 million of these parts on the Ford\, Lincoln\, Jaguar and Mercury models. \nMr. Foster went on to complete his MBA at Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Business in May 2001. Gold Coast provides a forum to educate\, guide\, and assist businesses\, large and small\, in support of the warfighter mission within The Department of the Navy and throughout the DoD. \nHISTORY \nThe Department of the Navy (DON) Gold Coast\, small business opportunity event began with the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme Office of Small Business. NSWC had a strong need to interface with the Defense Contractors who were or would like to do business with the government in that area. The industry meetings became known as Gold Coast for the beach areas north of Santa Monica\, which carried the same name. Gold Coast industry meetings were successful in attracting companies from Southern California as well as local Oxnard Plain firms. DON Small Business Deputies from the San Diego area began to attend and participate as well in the early 1990’s. The success of the program led to a joint decision to share the load and rotate the responsibility for putting on an event with government agencies from each of the participating systems commands being represented. Gold Coast would be rotated through several agencies in the Southern California area. The first Systems Command to lead Gold Coast was Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) the forerunner to Naval Information Warfare (NAVWAR) Systems Command in 2004. Click here to learn more.
