DESCRIPTION:This course is required by both the Army Corp of Engineers (COE) and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for contractors doing business aboard military installations. SUMMARY:Solar Energy Storage Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Description \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis three-day virtual course covers fundamental principles of battery-based systems including understanding customer needs; specifying and sizing a battery bank\, inverters\, and charge controllers for battery-based systems; defining system architecture and functionality; battery metering; and understanding the code implications of these systems. \nPrerequisite: Working knowledge of solar PV; currently working in the solar industry; and/or have taken a fundamentals course such as FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation offered by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center. \nLength: 21 hours – 7 hours a day over 3 days \nLearning Objectives: Students will be able to: \n\nUse load analysis to size a battery bank\nSpecify and size inverters\, charge controllers for battery-based system\nDefine system architecture options and functionality\nAdd battery backup to existing grid-direct PV system\nUnderstand code implications of these systems\n\nCourse Expectations: Attendance during at least 90% of the live presentation is required to receive a certificate of completion. \nAs a participant of the grant program\, we expect that all participants that complete the course also complete the post-training survey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis opportunity is extended to individuals who are either a part of Native American communities or serve Native American communities as well as historically underserved\, and underrepresented populations including People of Color\, women\, veterans\,  individuals with disabilities\, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. \nThese courses are recommended for the following groups: \n\nSkilled professionals transitioning careers into the solar or renewable energy industry\nEducators from universities\, colleges\, and community colleges\nCollege students pursuing a career in solar or renewable energy\nSolar technical professionals\nEnergy professionals\nEngineers\nElectricians\nContractors\nRoofers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cost \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese virtual courses are being offered FREE thanks to the NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC)\, PowerAmerica\, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Rapid Assistance for Coronavirus Economic Response (NIST-RACER) grant. SUMMARY:FEDERAL CONTRACTING SERIES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) and the Government Contracting Assistance Program (GCAP) will host the following collaborative in-person trainings across North Carolina during 2024.  The duration for training is 3.5 hours which includes three one-hour sessions and two 15-minute breaks. \nPart 1: Federal Contracting Fundamentals (one hour). This training explores the fundamentals on doing business with the federal government. Topics include: levels of federal purchasing; how the federal government buys products\, construction and engineering and non-personal services; registering as a federal contractor; locating\, identifying and responding to federal business opportunities; and resources available to assist federal contractors in North Carolina. \nPart 2: Navigating Federal Small Business Certifications: An In-Depth Analysis (one hour). This session offers a deep dive into various certifications such as 8(a)\, HUBZone\, SDVOSB/VOSB and Women-Owned\, covering eligibility\, application processes\, and strategies for leveraging these certifications to expand business opportunities. \nPart 3: Effectively Presenting Your Small Business to the Federal Government (one hour). This training focuses on real world tips\, tricks\, tools and lessons learned on how to effectively market a business to federal customers.
