NC Military Business Center Welcomes Olivia Chávez-Carroll as Business Development Professional in support of the Wilmington Region

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Olivia Chávez-Carroll as Business Development Professional. Serving businesses statewide from Cape Fear Community College, Olivia will also provide one-on-one assistance to help businesses in the region to compete for, win and grow jobs through federal contracts in the following counties: Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender.
Olivia will identify current and future prime and subcontracting opportunities (with a focus on the US Coast Guard and Homeland Security), notify companies statewide of these opportunities, and provide one-on-one assistance to help companies in her service area to bid on and win federal contracts. Olivia will also join a robust NCMBC medical industry team focused on opportunities that exist with operational, tactical and installation-based medical commands.
“The business development team is the heart of the NCMBC,” said Scott Dorney, NCMBC Executive Director. “Olivia’s broad military experience, her relentless drive to excel and her post-military experience in competing for defense and federal contracts will serve her well in this position.”
Prior to joining the NCMBC, Olivia was an Army Aviation Officer, serving as a pilot, operations officer, training officer and public affairs officer. She started her military career with the United States Marine Corps, serving in Yokosuka, Japan, Camp Johnson, NC, Camp Pendleton, CA and four years with the Reserve in Fort Worth, TX. After 9/11, she entered the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG), completed the Officer Candidates Course, went on to become the Minority First Female and Latina sent to Army Flight School and became a CH-47D (Chinook) helicopter pilot in the SCARNG.
Olivia served as Executive Officer of a Chinook company while deployed in Afghanistan, and the Personnel Officer for the 51st Aviation Group. She subsequently served in the Army Reserve in Southern California as a Public Affairs Officer, Civil Affairs Platoon Leader and Family Readiness Coordinator, supporting units in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Olivia served a total of 8 years in the United States Marine Corps, 7 years in the South Carolina Army National Guard and 6 years in Army Reserve during her military career.
While employed by CACI International, Olivia served as the Veteran Coordinator and Program Developer for the Atomic Veterans Service Awards program in the Department of Defense’s Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Finally, she served as a strategic advisor for JC Analytics, a federal contractor in Herndon, VA, and as a contractor with KUOG, Inc. in Huntsville, AL.
Olivia is originally from San Fernando, CA. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in International Relations (with a minor in Spanish), and her Associate of Arts in Political Science from Los Angeles Pierce College. Olivia is excited about establishing new roots in North Carolina with her retired Army spouse, working to achieve significant economic and business development in the Wilmington region, and creating an ecosystem of successful government contractors across the state.
