Wake Tech Contractor’s Academy

Wake Tech Contractors Academy is an 8-week program preparing service and product providers with the insight and basic know-how to become certified trade partners with the government at all levels and learn basic best practices to conduct that commerce through an intensive course that will prepare them to compete for government contracts. The program will also implement a core curriculum of Entrepreneurial Education by utilizing the Kauffman Fast Trac Curriculum as featured in the current offered Launch Programs. Finally, there will also be a significant component of the program focus on best practices for getting certified as a Historically Underutilized Business at the College, Local, State, and Federal level, expecting the participants to be adequately prepared to gain certifications upon completion. This course is the successor to a very successful seminar series that has existed at Wake Tech since 2019.

This course is open to anyone interested in learning about the business of Contracting with the government especially in construction contracting. It is particularly well-suited for haulers, contractors, framers, landscapers, etc. Current and prospective Wake Tech students are encouraged to participate. Will also connect to the Wake Tech MSEA Program.

Upon Completion, contracting students will be better prepared to manage the process of conducting business with a governmental firm regardless of level(Local/City/State/Fed). They will also have a basic understanding of critical aspects of running a small business successfully.
