DISC Keynote Speaker: Leigh E. Method, Acting Assistant Secretary of War for Sustainment

Leigh E. Method, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of War for Sustainment. In this capacity, she is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment in overseeing the Department’s $210 billion sustainment enterprise through the conduct of logistics and sustainment policies, procedures, and resourcing to ensure effective support to the warfighter. Her responsibilities encompass sustainment support in the DoW for logistics, maintenance, supply chain, inventory management, distribution, material readiness, weapon system product support, international logistics, logistics workforce development, and commercial support to operations. She officially assumed this role in July 2025.

Ms. Method concurrently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Sustainment. Previously, Ms. Method served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Logistics, where she was responsible for the Department’s logistics strategy and policy, supply, storage and distribution, equipment, transportation, commercial support to operations, and supply chain risk management integration.

Premise of the DISC Summit

  • The defense aerospace, ground vehicle, maritime and armaments markets represent tremendous business opportunity
  • OEMs, subcontractors, service providers and suppliers are often siloed in these market sectors
  • Future sustainment and supply chain resilience will require breaking silos, engaging new businesses and promoting dialogue among the defense industrial and R&D ecosystem

Goals of the DISC Summit:

  • Engaging current and prospective suppliers and service providers to leverage prime contracting opportunities with the Department of Defense and other federal agencies across these market silos
  • Engaging current and prospective suppliers to leverage subcontracting opportunities with OEMS/prime contractors across these market silos 
  • Informing the industrial/academia R&D ecosystem about future defense technology imperatives, and agencies about emerging and future technologies in these sectors
  •  Establishing a productive and DIRECT dialogue around critical issues in the defense industrial market – including supply chain, maintenance/repair/overhaul (MRO), workforce, inflation and barriers to entry
