The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is the unified standard for implementing cybersecurity across the Department of Defense supply chain. It is intended to help reduce the risk of compromise of the sensitive data that exists within the supply chain.

About the Presenters:

Panelist – Reena Bhatia, Federal Business Development, North Carolina Military Business Center
Reena Bhatia joined North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) Business Development Team in January 2023. Reena is responsible for identifying lucrative federal contract opportunities and assisting businesses with understanding government solicitations, how to prepare winning proposals and to successfully execute federal contracts.

Prior to joining the team, Reena worked 28 years supporting government contractors in business growth strategy, business development, capture management and proposal solutioning. Reena has also supported commercial companies within the United States, Middle East and in the APAC region. Reena brings extensive experience helping companies do business with the federal government within the United States and overseas.

Reena holds a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Maryland College Park and is an Alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program – National Cohort 7.

Panelist: Tyler Booker, Director of Advisory Services, Tego
Tyler has over five years of experience in IT risk management and assessment. Tyler has worked with Greg Manson to help build out the security service offerings of both a Raleigh-based and national MSP prior to moving to Tego. Given the experience working for a national MSP, Tyler gained expertise in a multitude of different industries ranging from healthcare and biopharmaceuticals to manufacturing and banking. This gives him a wealth of knowledge in dealing with regulations and frameworks such as HIPAA and fast-growing CMMC for organizations in the Defense Industrial Base. Tyler is both a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE). He is also a CMMC Registered Practitioner (RP).

Moderator – Greg Manson, VP of Advisory Services, Tego
Following an 18-year career in senior IT management positions across healthcare, medical device and the pharmaceutical industries, Greg transitioned to build the Security, Audit and Compliance department for a popular Raleigh-based MSP. He moved on to do the same for a national MSP, servicing clients in all regions of the U.S. Those experiences exposed Greg to a broad spectrum of regulations, compliance initiatives and the gritty world of fighting threat actors. His primary career objective is to help customers reduce risk to their IT systems and data. Greg brings a wealth of security, audit, and compliance experience to Tego including identifying risk through assessment and mitigation, providing systems security management, internal audit and governance solutions, leading SOC 2, Type 2 attestation and ISO 27001 certification initiatives and managing client CMMC, PCI, HIPAA, SOX, GDPR and CCPA programs.

Greg is an ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE). He recently became a CMMC-AB Registered Practitioner allowing Tego to become a CMMC-AB Registered Provider Organization positioning us to assist our many customers in the Defense Industrial Base navigate the strict requirements of the Defense Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS).

Panelist – Ferd Irizarry, Principal/Senior Advisor, JMH Consulting
Brigadier General Ferdinand “Ferd” Irizarry served in the United States military for 36 years and retired in August 2015. Since leaving military service, he has focused on the defense industrial base. Currently, he is a principal and senior advisor with JMH Group – a DC-based consulting company. Besides consulting, he has been the Senior Mentor for planning and executing brigade theater-level military Command Post Exercises. He is also the Chairman of the Patriot Foundation – a non-profit that disperses millions of dollars in scholarships for the education of severely wounded members of the armed forces and their dependents. Before retiring, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 United States Army Reserve Command and Chief, Readiness, Office of the Chief of Army Reserve. In this capacity, he was responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and deployment of the 210k-member US Army Reserve and its multibillion-dollar operating budget.

Besides his professional military education, he holds a MA in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. In addition to the Patriot Foundation, he is a founding member/Treasurer of the Special Warfare Museum Foundation. He is a member of the Small Business Association Veteran Owned Business policy sub-committee, Defense Alliance of North Carolina, North Carolina Veterans Business Association, Fayetteville-Cumberland Economic Development Board, and the Military Affairs Council.

Panelist – Laura Rodgers, Director, NC Partnership for Cybersecurity Excellence
Laura works with the member education institutions and industry to develop programs to support cybersecurity in North Carolina. She is also the Director of Cybersecurity Practice in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University, acting as the technical liaison between industry, government agencies, the Secure Computing Institute, and NC-PaCE.

Prior to joining NC State, Rodgers was the Sr. Cyber Compliance Manager for the North Carolina Military Business Center, where she helped defense contractors develop cybersecurity compliance programs.

She has held a variety of positions in the defense industry, including with Lockheed Martin’s MX and Titan Missile Programs and General Dynamics Information Technology’s urban training programs.

Ms. Rodgers holds a B.S in Accounting and an MBA from Oklahoma State University. She is a certified Data Privacy and Protection Specialist and is working toward a CMMC Certified Professional certification.
