NCMMI Southeastern Listening Session
NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions (IES), UNC-Wilmington, the Office of Representative David Rouzer, and the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) are hosting a North Carolina Maritime Manufacturing Initiative (NCMMI) Regional Listening Session for Congressional District 7.

Building on our statewide strategic planning effort, NCMMI has established a 2026–2030 Statewide Strategic Plan aimed at fortifying North Carolina’s Maritime Industrial Base. This listening session brings that effort directly to Congressional District 1 to align regional strengths, address localized challenges, and refine a regional strategy that feeds into the statewide vision.
We are bringing together key leaders across workforce development, defense, maritime industries, advanced manufacturing, higher education, economic development, and government. Together, our discussion will focus on:
- Building and strengthening regional maritime and defense supply chains
- Expanding local workforce pipelines for technical and industrial needs
- Accelerating adoption of advanced manufacturing, robotics, and cybersecurity
- Removing barriers for regional suppliers seeking Department of Defense (DoD) contracts
- Setting clear regional priorities and actionable partnerships for NCMMI implementation
