NCMBC Announces $10.6 Billion in Federal Prime Contracts Awarded to Businesses Operating in North Carolina in FY2025

NORTH CAROLINA (March 6, 2026). The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), a business development and technology transition entity of the State of North Carolina embedded in the State’s community colleges and headquartered at Fayetteville Technical Community College, is pleased to announce that businesses operating in North Carolina were awarded $10.60 billion in federal prime contracts in FY2025.

“Each of these prime contracts – and perhaps billions more in subcontracts – grows jobs, expands the economy and tax base, and improves quality of life for everyone in North Carolina,” said Scott Dorney, NCMBC Executive Director. “The federal marketplace continues to provide significant opportunity for North Carolina businesses across many industries and regions of the state. The State’s continued investment in growing the defense and federal economy and its commitment to sustaining our military installations and warfighters are benefiting all North Carolinians every day.”

FISCAL YEAR 2025 FIGURES:

  • Prime contracts from all federal agencies executed in North Carolina: $10.60 billion (an increase from $8.5 billion in FY24).  Some of these contracts will be executed over multiple years.
  • Businesses in each of 98 counties were awarded work for the federal government as prime contractors (an increase from 97 in FY24).
  • Businesses in each of 51 counties were awarded over $10 million in federal prime contracts (an increase from 39 counties in FY24).

“We are also seeing notable increases in federal contracting activity in western North Carolina,” Dorney added. “A significant portion of that growth reflects federal recovery and rebuilding efforts following the devastation from Hurricane Helene. Those investments are helping communities rebuild critical infrastructure while also creating new opportunities for businesses in North Carolina to support disaster response and long-term resilience.”
