Biography:
Tim Malone joined the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) Business Development Team in April 2025. Mr. Malone serves as a Federal Business Development Professional based at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC. He is responsible for identifying federal contract opportunities in the construction and infrastructure sectors and assisting businesses in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender counties to compete for and win federal contracts.

Mr. Malone provides one-on-one assistance to businesses in understanding government solicitations, preparing competitive proposals, and navigating the federal contracting process. He builds strong relationships with assigned federal agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA, Customs and Border Protection, and others within the Departments of the Interior, Justice, and Commerce. He also works closely with local chambers of commerce, economic developers, and small business centers to promote federal business opportunities and grow the regional economy.

Prior to rejoining NCMBC, Mr. Malone worked as a Project Manager at South Eastern General Contracting, where he helped lead the development of a proprietary construction management application and supported the company’s federal business development and proposal operations. His experience bridging the gap between field operations, technology solutions, and federal capture strategies continues to inform his approach to helping businesses thrive in the government contracting space.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Malone served as the Technology Systems Coordinator for NCMBC, where he managed statewide technology platforms including MatchForce.org, supported NCMBC’s strategic industry events, and delivered technical training and solutions to staff and clients across North Carolina. He originally joined NCMBC in 2015 as a Business Development Administrative Assistant.

Mr. Malone has studied Computer Science and Computer-Aided Design at Fayetteville Technical Community College and previously attended Appalachian State University and Village Christian Academy. He is a licensed North Carolina Residential General Contractor and has completed extensive professional development in business management, federal contracting, and systems administration.

Mr. Malone resides in Wilmington, NC with his wife Marcy, their German Shepherd Pepper, and cat Pink. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, supporting local veteran entrepreneurs, and staying connected to the construction and innovation ecosystem across the state.
