Strengthening America’s Submarine Industrial Base: Opportunities for North Carolina Manufacturers

Connecting North Carolina manufacturers to the nation’s submarine supply chain through the North Carolina Maritime Manufacturing Initiative (NCMMI).

The United States is expanding its Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) to meet growing national defense requirements, creating significant opportunities for North Carolina manufacturers.

Led by NC State University’s Industry Extension Services (IES) and the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), the North Carolina Maritime Manufacturing Initiative (NCMMI) brings together industry, academia, and government partners to strengthen manufacturing capabilities and expand the state’s role in the submarine supply chain.

This one-hour webinar will highlight SIB business opportunities, critical manufacturing and workforce needs, and how NCMMI’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan supports supplier development, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity readiness, and industry partnerships.
